I have a somewhat hypocritical relationship to my birthday - if no one notices, I'm totally ok with that (I've had a few where I was alone for one reason or another, and didn't mind at all), but I am not-so-secretly tickled if someone makes a deal out of it, too.
I don't *hate* my birthday at all, or wish it wasn't a thing, I can take it or leave it, but I do love the attention, if it's attention I'm getting....
