Oh, you had to have a *very* thick skin and a repetitive strain injury from mashing the block button! But it wasn't totally useless, and as an author, putting my name out in front of the public was useful.
But I have higher engagement and far less acrimony in the Fediverse, which also has far fewer neo-nazis to block, so it's full of win. The only drawback is that my publishers aren't here so they don't see me marketing my brand (i.e. my unvarnished self).
