There is a first open-source solution for age verification!
https://github.com/Godotcam/goCamOpenSourcehttps://www.xbiz.com/news/284881/gsi-developement-reports-euro-certifications-for-av-solution-go-camDon’t get me wrong — I firmly believe it’s the parents’ responsibility to monitor how kids use and access the internet. We have device filter options that work well for that purpose.
I see it as a misguided approach that more and more governments are introducing age verification laws, forcing people to undergo privacy-invasive age checks to access online content.
Nevertheless, in countries with such age verification laws, this could now be a reasonable way to conduct privacy-preserving online age checks, as the software runs in the user’s browser, ensuring that data does not leave the user’s device!
I’ll need to look into this further!
