India and Pakistan gain independence on August 15 1947
Most interesting is that the British Indian Empire was divided into 4 countries (Myanmar and Sri Lanka gained independency in 1948)
In 1947, Pakistan had East and West, which were officially the same country but on two different sides of India. Only in 1971 did West Pakistan gain independence and become Bangladesh.
This is just one example of how long British rule has been fracturing the world
