at least in the case of mine the gas engine is just a regular engine with minor tweaks mated to a 4 way one speed manual transmission
the AC compressor is the exact same as a normal one except it has wires going to it instead of a pulley
the HV battery that everyone says is going to instantly kill you if you breathe near it is just a bunch of low voltage batteries in series
