This is why I built https://github.com/jb55/lnsocket, ideally you would RPC over lightning or web apis to connect to external nodes/wallets for paying. With lnsocket I can use my CLN node at home for paying directly over lightning, with other web APIs I could pay using my cashapp wallet (how?). We need to think about what the protocols would look like to make it easy to connect to the wallet you’re using.
Or I could just do something custodial, which I want to avoid as long as possible.
