when you use a social media, your post are uploaded to a server. if you use Facebook, your post is moderated and hosted by Facebook. the same can be said for X, Instagram or Tiktok.
on Nostr, it is a tad different. Your post are given and ID / hex. Relayers or host can choose to host your note or note. So depending on whether is paid or free or some rules set by the relays, your note may be uptake by 1, 2 or even 100s of relays.
what happened if a relay refused to upload your note. your can use a backuped version of your note (one you have downloaded) and reload it to another relay or to your own relay. that is why Nostr are practically immutable.
