It is not a dog eat dog world. It is not zero sum. More value is created than was consumed creating it. The incentive is that human beings get to flourish. Our means of survival is use of our brains to think and decide what is best for achieving our goals and values, to think on what our beyond mere survival goals and values are for that matter. The maximum flourishing of each one depends on the freedom to do that and act on our decisions. That is it depends on voluntary choice and only voluntary interactions with others. Predation on others destroys much of the value they could have brought into the world. It is in our best interest to inter-cooperate and exchange the value we produce for the values others produce. The game is not won by the one that instead makes human beings into relatively dumb disgruntled slaves at all. The rules are not arbitrary but based in Natural Law - grounded in the fundamental needs necessitated by our nature.
