I think that I’ve been messing with TLS too long when I am comparing encoded key files that diff says are different to see if they are the same key or not.
Turns out that, much like certificates, keys can also be identical but have different files. — My understanding is that the contents are the same but the enclosing container is different.
I want to grovel at nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnddaehgu3wwp6kyqpq3n409lc4d9w06xuqurrkkh4mtdzc2afc5m07tkkc26u7p2lcq04q2kq5wq (nprofile…q5wq) and blame him for my knowledge. But I think that I’ve well and truly graduated beyond where TLS Master left off.
Don’t get me wrong, I think that TLS Mastery is a GREAT book. It helped give me the start and encouragement to walk into the TLS jungle armed with only the OpenSSL machete.
