Did Will tell you all of this because it makes no damn sense and Damus isn’t that important. It’s one app, from a relatively unknown protocol and an unknown developer, with less than 700 downloads.
The stripped down version would be that Apple told him they would remove his app if he didn’t comply with the rules he agreed to when he brought his app to the store in the first place and he got pissy about it, plain and simple.
And instead of complying, he creates a hack to hide the functionality from them. He then doubles down by offering subscriptions outside of the store as well. Yeah, that sounds like him and it explains why Apple would continue to give him a hard time.
