The dean sent out an email to the entire department (about 45 faculty and 2 staff) to clarify the situation, the timing of the election, and to explain why it's happening. The dean's account completely contradicts the Dept. Chair's lies from last week, so that is a fucking relief. I think I need to let that lie now. My only worry is that because of how the dean's message went out, there will be a lot of faculty who trash the email without reading it.
