I referred to JSON-LD as an example of the kind of stuff that people might want to put in a front matter or tags, properties sure as "publication_date" etc, JSON-LD is pretty exhaustive, wasn't suggesting to make this part of the spec. Rather should you want to seriously think about this kind of meta data maybe make a small subset of JSON-LD name (it's really just names...) or to make a general "metadata" tag for user defined data.
