Their history is different than Europe, with more unified empires controlling much of the area for relatively long spans of time instead of small principalities fighting over lower west Bohemia or something.
That may have lead to fewer, but bloodier battles...
Also their data might be garbage and the sources they used counted things as battles in Europe that wouldn't have been counted in China.
