"Whooping cough has hit Clark County hard this summer. There have been 229 cases identified in the county so far this year – “that’s more than the total number of cases over the last five years combined,” county officials said. 183 of those cases have been this summer."

"Whooping-cough cases also have been rising in Oregon. The Oregon Health Authority said there were 178 cases reported in the state between January 1 and the end of May. Only 20 cases were reported in the same time period the previous year."
