The last big leap forward in Western financial/social progress took place because of a clear economic alternative (Communism, not that I'm supporting that)
So long as the only viable choices are a corportist centre and hard right authoritarians, I don't see a path to those desperately needed improvements.
But I hope I'm wrong.
