LisPi (nprofile…2mzm) This area is flooding prone, but it was mostly up on a hill so we avoided the absolute worst of most of it (an actual biblical flood even wiped out a nearby city roughly 30 years ago five minutes from here).
the problems started happening when land developers killed the forest just further up the hill from our house to install new condos. without the trees and other vegetation, we suffered a lot of soil erosion which clogged the shit out of our drains and our basement would be regularly destroyed year after year.
we had some people fix up the drains, bitched at the city about the land erosion issues, and i had the idea to get a water activated pool pump set up where the worst of it was to help out. it mitigated some of the flooding, enough to spare our basement, but it just seems to be getting worse every year. now the rains are outpacing even these measures.
so we'll still keep our house, but who knows how much damage has been done to the foundation in the past decade.
