Adones Betances, 26, of Bronx, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the first-degree murder of 18-year-old Winston Ortiz. Betances stabbed Ortiz multiple times before setting him on fire in a hallway on August 12, 2020. The attack was motivated by Betances' anger over his sister's relationship with the victim. The sentencing was handed down by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Jeanette Rodriguez-Morick.
