I just realized that Ubuntu Touch (maintained by UBports (npub1lmq…xa4a) folks) support Fairphone 4 and according to their website, everything works smoothly:

Although I'm not ready to make the leap of faith and install it on my phone (super dependent on some apps on Android like banking and 2FA), I started donating to the ubport foundation. Hopefully in close future after making sure about Waydroid, I switch to it.
