Debian, by virtue of its sheer size and popularity, can easily create additional labor (mainly in form of triage and support work) and friction (in form of additional bugs or in most cases, just long-fixed bugs that remain in obsolete package versions) that the upstream is now stuck with, even if they never wanted it
I don't think this is a good thing! it's not enough to deter me from publishing FOSS entirely, but it's enough to give me pause every time a distro is mentioned
