from a bit of digging online, one of the common reasons for temperamental ignition on these units is that the ignition electrodes (basically a spark plug) get gunked up with carbon and stop making consistent spark. so when I spotted a section on taking the thing out, and it looking easy, I figured I might as well take a look.
the process is basically:
- take the front off
- remove the spark lead (identical to a car spark plug!)
- remove the ground line
- undo the torx bolts
- pull it out
3/x
