We have a community radio station here on Hatteras Island, NC. Its primary purpose is to provide emergency services to keep both locals and visitors informed on various emergency situations. When the internet and other comms are down, the FM radio station is one way to keep people up to date. It is an all volunteer station. I am one of the engineers keeping the station running. When we are not in "emergency mode" (which is most of the time), we broadcast rock and roll music (primarily from the 60's, 70's, and 80's). Here is a brief view of the transmitter room.
