Every time copyright gets proposed as something to save us from greedy corporations, it doesn't, it helps greedy corporations. Including this time with AI.
Hopes that "AI is illegal because it's violating copyright!" have actually turned in AI monopolists' favor. OpenAI is currently buying the rights to scrape all the web 2.0 era user generated content from sites like Reddit, Stack Overflow, etc. (Thanks EULAs!)
Which means OpenAI *wins* if the "this is copyright violation!" argument sings true: OpenAI will be the only one with legal rights over AI-generated output.
