There's a social element missing from the article. To reverse biodiversity decline, as a society we need to value biodiversity. If we keep locking away biodiversity in the corners and doing what we like everywhere else, I doubt this can transition us to a society that understands and cares about biodiversity. That's bad for us in the long run.
