"I said it rhetorically in my role as an advocate to make a rhetorical point"—ergo, intentional lying is perfectly fine in order to win political advancements. I'm not naïve I just want to show that hyperbolic rhetoric is perfectly fine no matter whether they believe it or not. It's just and advocacy, persuasive, "role." Amazingly illustrative!
