A lot of basic managers assume that the only way to give someone bad news is in person via a meeting.
It’s actually not true.
I sometimes intentionally give someone bad news over slack, knowing they will rage over it, with the understanding that they will reach a state of cope before the next time we meet.
If you make a call about it it just adds drama to the situation and gets them more worked up
