Similarly to how people thought the PIE annihilated the PUs (wrong, they coexisted well and eventually merged in many places based on how many loan words they exchanged) they thought that the PIE showed up to the Danube and rekt the OEs, but that too is wrong. More likely is a prolonged set of migrations once again based on the mutual loan word exchanges.
