In understanding the mentality of Mike Johnson and the considerable swathe of Americans who support him and think like him, it's important to understand the seemingly ravenous need of a certain kind of Christianity in the US to generate enemies. The enemies come and go with the times, but they're always there. At one moment, they're people of color or Jews. Then they're women. Now they're LGBTQ people.
