Harris’s choice for a VP will likely, and unfortunately, be a candidate who is even more centrist and conservative than she is.
The belief that you can fight right-wing extremism with a moderate-left platform is, in the long run, mistaken. Even if Harris wins (and I hope she does as Trump truly is an existential threat to democracy) our laws and institutions will continue shifting rightward as a moderate Democratic administration compromises with a fascist opposition party in order to govern.
