I guess the main problem is that it is not within our control. We’re at whim of the service provider.
I have 2FA turned on on my self-hosted services as well, but if I use Microsoft/Google, I should to be able to manage the security settings as well if I want (bearing the risks of course).
The current trend is to limit the user’s ability to do so, or eliminate it completely.
