To the duckwits making excuses for hashtag use:
Metadata has been around since 1967. It would be easy to add an extra field on skeets, toots, posts and notes, that allows for metadata to be added as tags, rather than visual hashtags. Stop making stupid excuses for hashtags. You will never convince me that they are a good idea. Never.
It only shows your level of ignorance, of how the web is implemented.
