It looks like Twitter is still working on ID-based verification.
App researcher Nima Owji has spotted a new label that appears when you click on a user’s blue checkmark, reading: “This account is ID verified.”
While Twitter, err... X, hasn’t actually confirmed that it’s launching a new ID-based verification method, findings from Twitter’s code suggest the platform has been working on this since at least March. If Twitter does start letting users verify their identity with some form of ID, it should hopefully help us better discern who’s an imposter and who’s not.
