I think nostr and non-custodial BTC are even more important for smaller countries than it is for large ones. It gives those citizens the ability to circumvent those corrupt governments and gives them a fighting chance at being prosperous independent states despite the oppression.
(Not that Costa Rica is victim of this, just saying in general)
