As an old ethnologist (Volkskundler auf Deutsch) I can remember the golden 1980's, when it was cool to talk about postmodern things, also about 'postethnology'. A quite cynical Danish collegue once said: "Why not 'compostethnology?" It became a popular phrase in some cliques.
