"Can't someone just hack Bitcoin and erase everything?"
This was a question asked in an
OPERATION BITCOIN (npub1szn…9297) class earlier this week.
First of all, I love questions like this. With our student population being mostly veterans it's expected that we'll teach many who have a threat assessment mindset. Which is the same mindset that was used in the creation of Bitcoin itself.
We had a great discussion in the class about the security of the Bitcoin blockchain and network, the power of decentralization, hashing, cryptography and all the other technical aspects that I won't get into here.
At the end of the conversation, everyone in the class (including me) had a deeper understanding of the security of Bitcoin and its ability to resist attacks.
For the record, the Bitcoin blockchain and network are extremely secure and have never successfully been hacked or disabled. And it is under constant attack from individual hackers, groups and even sovereign nation states.
It is verifiably the most secure monetary system that has ever existed. Ever.
