I wish text/markdown or application/rtf where part of the RFC 5322 (email format).
Everybody hates HTML emails, for a good variety of reasons. But text emails with a text width of 80 characters feel so much 1980s.
Why not support Markdown/RTF as native formats, and let the client render them however the user pleases using any converters (which are usually much cheaper than a browser’s rendering engine)?
