Running a server is hard work. As long as costs are transparent and fixed, I'm fine so long as npub1xdgc73g37w96emuemwd04zc4mjltc7hhkv6ryrlpftu0ys366zysk9kswd (npub1xdg…kswd) allows you to migrate your photos elsewhere if you want.
And I'd rather pay $2/month than be trackers and ads.
That said, I currently run my own pixelfed server at peerverse.space.
