In my opinion, that is a very eurocentric and modernistic way of view.
Can we really rate cultures by pyramids, temples or canals? Is there any paradigms to see cultures more or less "civilized".
Both, Hohokam and Amazonian cultures, have their worth. And they were, in my opinion, much more civiliced than our western culture! Or is a culture really civilized, if it's based on the destruction of its basis of exisitence?
