The way I do it in amethyst is by looking at the small favicon that pop up next to my posts... that's how i know that my messages are broadcasting properly to the relays that I used for writing. i have set some relays for read only ( the ones with low spam)... and i have 2 or 3 relays, including my own private one, for writing. if the favicon pops up, it means, my post was sent through to the relays
