i started paying more attention to native wildflowers when i started thinking of suitable accent plants for my native maple bonsai. the problem is that so many local wildflowers are European invasives, and true native plants are difficult to find in garden centres.
the other difficulty is finding suitably miniature species. Jewelweed - too tall. Swamp iris - also too tall. Turk's Cap lily - way too tall. but this little thing called blue-eyed grass? perfect, and frickin' adorable.
