Recording a baked thought: We built the internet on top of the http protocol and had no idea how this new technology would change our world. We couldn’t have foreseen how this new future would play out in shaping our culture since this new protocol was our first step into the digital age. Monetary incentives are ALWAYS the driver in economic decisions. This new technology would be formed in line with monetary incentives. Unfortunately our money was already corrupted when it entered into the http protocol and it poisoned this beautiful new technology. This poison made us build a backwards internet because of our backwards incentive structure of our old world money. For more than a decade we proceeded to be forced to live in a poisoned digital world that enslaved us, since money impacts all aspects on the http protocol. The lethalness of the poison in this protocol came to light from the unfortunate events of the 2008 financial crisis. Thankfully, Mr. Satoshi recognized this poison and had the intelligence to brew the antidote. Bitcoin will save humanity as it allows us the opportunity to have a second chance at rebuilding the internet on a new protocol with a positive incentive structure. That new protocol is Nostr. We have the opportunity to rebuild the new age with the knowledge of decades in a digital world under our belts. Our start to a new age in human history looks increasingly bright, now that the internet has its own money. We’re starting from scratch on the Nostr protocol and get to change some of the foundations that molded the way our culture has adapted to the digital age. It’ll take hard work and we will face much resistance in this change, but the future world we could build for ourselves has truly limitless possibilities. The certainties Bitcoin provides in our incentive structure, finally allows us to build a people’s protocol on Nostr like the hopes we had for http. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to live through what may be the first time in human history, we get a restart on a new age and can change our past mistakes that will flower such a beautiful future.
