It's an opinionated fork of bitcoin core, some additional features included, like the possibility to not relay some transactions (notably ordinals) (I should add that bitcoin core already block some transactions that could theorically be mined btw, so it's really just an extension of the filter).

As an individual, it's your freedom to not relay them, but as a pool, you're possibility missing out juicy fees to your members. To maximize profit, mining pools should accept any transaction, even if they break mempool policy, if the fee is attractive.

Anyway, they said block templates should be proposed by miners at some point, at which point it will be less problematic hopefully.
