i don't get how these contracts work in perpetuity, though.

If i stop paying for some service, why would i still be bound by whatever "contract" i signed? Am i still bound by the terms of use for my Blockbuster Membership from 1998? AOL TOU?

I am guessing these lower courts are "upholding" whatever so that it gets appealed to higher courts, not wanting to be the court that pisses off large donors to whichever party. I just wish someone would state that, plainly.
