Why does an experience which does NOT detectably affect the brain impact cognition in predictable and specific ways? Eg becoming a Christian and seeing the world in a new light?

You would struggle to detect a Christian from a group of pagan, hindu or muslim MRIs, and yet the real-world effect of these beliefs could not possibly be more different. The Christian belief *resulted in the MRI machine itself!*

Same for a belief that is pro incest vs anti incest. Identical brain structures, completely different long term ecolutionary fitness and results.
