Global can be... traumatising at times. Plus, bots are everywhere. But I do switch to it at certain "thematic" hours of the day (e.g., Germans having breakfast and walking/biking time; Japanese artwork + cool meals time). I've made it a habit to check Global at least once a day and try to follow at least one new interesting account. It's a nice change from my follows timeline, which is mostly Nostr/BTC devs with laser eyes, building and having strong opinions about things. I mean, I'm not complaining (this is my own "curated" list after all) but I do enjoy mixing it up a bit with the artsy, foodie, petsy, and overall normie corners of Nostr.
I guess I could rely more on DVMs, thematic relays, and other algorithmic solutions to discover content, but patiently hunting for good accounts to follow is like collecting shells at the beach or shaving with a straight razor. I could say that I do it because it gives better results (and that would indeed be true), but honestly, it's more about enjoying the process itself.
