A floppy must have caught on it and damaged it.
Then I did something stupid.
To confirm that indeed the head was the issue, I went ahead and replaced it with a known good one from the SE's 800k drive.
It didn't work. I returned it back to the SE's drive, and it still wouldn't function.
I'm now dealing with 3 non functioning floppy drives.
