I hear you. I don’t know - that’s my answer. At this point, you have to understand that they’ve been living with social media their entire lives. That’s how they interact with each other.

I have a younger sister that I always refer to in these conversations - she doesn’t even think about the data she’s giving out - it’s simply a given to her. She doesn’t think - it’s part of her wiring at this point. And it’s something many youngsters accept because it temporarily alleviates loneliness - and that’s a trade off they’re willing to accept. Can’t have your cake and eat it too unfortunately :/

Maybe I’m pessimistic but I don’t think we can backtrack on any of this. It’s the reality of the next generation - and either you try to understand how they operate in the world or you don’t. If you don’t, then that’s fine - BUT then the chances of making bitcoin + nostr mainstream are extremely slim.

If we want these technologies to remain niche and only speak to a very small percentage of the population, then by all means, let’s keep the barrier to entry high! But if we believe that this technology can be beneficial for the world, we need to speak in the language of the world. Most people don’t care about data they’re giving out or whether they’re sovereign or not. They want things to be fast, easy, and fun.

Doesn’t mean it’s right.
