mastodon is just one activitypub server. snac2 is links-friendly by default and fully interoperable with the whole fediverse. I can follow Lemmy threads with it, for example.
bluesky has one (1) at-protocol implementation; they promise to fund others, but only via github sponsorships and aws credits. I have been looking and cannot find anyone who has taken them up on this. but hey, you can login to flipboard with it!
