Been fiddling with https://www.passwordstore.org, which is nice to use but has two drawbacks IMO: cleartext metadata, and public-key encryption of the password files.
KeePassXC doesn’t have these problems but it looks more “opaque” and very GUI-centric.
Tough choice…
