Look, I know he lies, but this is not the kind of lie he usually tells. This is a factor of *ten* — her crowds were twelve or fifteen *thousand*. He would usually “round that down” to ten thousand, but not *one* thousand.
I think he may literally have just misread or misheard “fifteen thousand” as “fifteen hundred.”
