It’s also absolutely the founders’ fault that Ello vaporized their user data this way.
Investor money is almost always a curse, but a sufficiently determined founder *can* ensure an ethically sound shutdown, at least—which I know because I’ve seen friends do it. But you have to put that work *first* instead of drizzling off to nothing and then being sad it didn’t happen to work itself out.
